Environmental Chemistry and Biology
The Environmental Chemistry and Biology Group (ECBG) provides
chemistry and biology scientific and technical support for the
site characterization, remediation, and restoration activities at
LLNL CERCLA cleanup sites. The ECBG also provides scientific and
technical support for work-for-others projects on a State and
Federal level, as well as LLNL institutional work-in-the-public
interest.
ECBG state of the art support includes:
- Cost effective soil and water sampling and analysis to
monitor environmental quality and contaminant behavior
- Ecological impact assessment and analysis (field and
laboratory studies)
- Environmental risk assessment support (sampling,
analysis, modeling)
- Quality assurance/quality control to support
environmental risk management
- Application of bioremediation and natural attenuation
processes to environmental risk management (sampling,
analysis, modeling)
- Assessment of transportation fuel impacts to groundwater
resources
- Application of risk-based cleanup approaches to
environmental remediation
