Engineering

The Engineering and Operations Group works as a part of a multidisciplinary team, including geologists, chemists, biologists, information systems and data management specialists, addressing environmental restoration of the Livermore Site and Site 300 and other environmental issues such as building decontamination.

The Engineering Group provides project definition and objective, design, construction, facility operation and maintenance, environmental sampling and characterization and environmental restoration research.
  • Design, construction, operation and maintenance of ground water and soil vapor treatment facilities

  • Technical support for ERD operations

  • Remediation strategy development

  • Development and testing of remediation technology which includes:

    • catalytic reductive dehalogenation
    • portable treatment units
    • electroosmosis
    • biological treatment of nitrate and percholorate
    • reduction of volatile organic compounds via ferrous iron
    • solar, wind and barometric powered systems
    • cryogenic sequestering of contaminants
