About ERD
The Environmental Restoration Division investigates and cleans up
soil and ground water contaminated by past activities of Lawrence
Livermore and its predecessors at its Livermore and Site 300
facilities. We evaluate, select, and implement appropriate,
innovative, state-of-the-art environmental restoration technologies.
Our responsibilities include:
- Conducting restoration of soil and ground water to comply with
state and federal regulations and to protect public health and
the environment.
- Utilizing state-of-the-art contaminant hydrogeology and
restoration methods for ground water and soils.
- Providing and managing a series of well-characterized and
instrumented test beds to assist in developing a broad array of
investigation and remediation technologies and approaches.
Our restoration efforts are conducted under the supervision of the
Department of Energy, the Environmental Protection Agency, the State
Regional Water Quality Control Board, and the California Department
of Toxic Substances Control.
We share our expertise with the public and private sectors, both
domestically and internationally, that are confronting similar
requirements.
